The Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Croatia (Croatian: Ministarstvo gospodarstva) is a central government ministry responsible for the development and competitiveness of the Croatian economy. It formulates industrial policy, promotes entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized businesses, manages trade policy, attracts foreign investment, and supports economic cooperation with foreign countries.
The ministry oversees key areas including industry (excluding food and tobacco), mining, cooperatives, consumer protection, privatization and restructuring of state-owned companies, and participation in European economic integration and international trade frameworks such as the WTO. It also handles aspects of energy policy, innovation, and the implementation of EU-funded programs, including grants under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Headquartered at Ulica grada Vukovara 78 in Zagreb, the ministry operates nationwide across Croatia as part of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. It coordinates with other state bodies to foster sustainable economic growth, green transition initiatives, and industrial modernization. The ministry is led by Minister Ante Šušnjar and maintains a budget in the hundreds of millions of euros with several hundred employees.
In the context of energy and industrial projects, it acts as a key funder and policy body supporting Croatia's transition to renewable energy sources and enhanced economic resilience.
