LEAG (Lausitz Energie) is a German energy company centered in the Lusatia region of Brandenburg and Saxony. It comprises Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG and Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke AG, operating lignite opencast mines and conventional power plants, and supplying electricity, district heat, and system services. The company is one of the largest power producers in eastern Germany.
Beyond its conventional portfolio, LEAG is expanding into renewables (wind and solar), large-scale energy storage, and power-to-X applications. Its activities include developing green hydrogen production and related infrastructure to support industrial energy needs and grid flexibility. LEAG is also repurposing former coal sites for new energy projects, reflecting a broader transition toward lower-carbon, integrated energy and industrial operations.
