Latvenergo AS is Latvia’s state-owned energy utility and one of the largest power companies in the Baltic region. The group generates and supplies electricity and heat, and trades electricity and natural gas in Latvia and neighboring markets. Its generation portfolio is anchored by large hydropower plants on the Daugava River (Ķegums, Pļaviņas, and Riga HPPs), complemented by natural gas–fired combined heat and power plants in Riga (TEC-1 and TEC-2). Latvenergo is also developing wind and solar projects to expand renewable capacity.
The company’s operations span generation, distribution, and retail supply. Distribution is provided by subsidiary Sadales tīkls AS, while retail services are offered under the Elektrum brand to residential and business customers across the Baltics. Latvenergo’s strategy emphasizes renewable integration, system flexibility, and energy efficiency in line with regional decarbonization and security-of-supply objectives.
