The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is the executive authority of the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Through its Ministry of Natural Resources, it regulates and administers the region’s oil and gas sector, including licensing, production-sharing contracts with international operators, and oversight of upstream development and midstream infrastructure.
The KRG’s remit covers crude and condensate production, associated gas management, marketing arrangements, and export logistics, notably pipeline flows from the Kurdistan Region to international markets via Turkey. Its policies and agreements influence regional supply, pricing, and payment frameworks, and require coordination with Iraq’s federal institutions on revenue-sharing and export governance. These activities are closely followed by energy and chemical industry stakeholders given their impact on hydrocarbon feedstocks and investment conditions in the region.
