Kabaale Refinery Company Limited is a special purpose vehicle (SPV) and joint venture company established to develop, construct, and operate the Kabaale Refinery project in Uganda. The refinery is a greenfield 60,000 barrels per day (bpd) Residue Fluid Catalytic Cracker (RFCC) facility located in Kabaale, Buseruka Sub-County, Hoima District, Uganda, within the Kabalega Industrial Park. It includes associated infrastructure such as a 211 km multi-product pipeline to a storage terminal in Namwabula, Mpigi District, and water intake facilities from Lake Albert.
Ownership is structured with Alpha MBM Investments LLC (UAE-based, led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum) holding a 60% equity stake and the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) holding 40%. The company maintains an office in Kampala to facilitate project implementation, including front-end engineering design (FEED), environmental assessments, and progression toward final investment decision (FID).
As the dedicated developer for Uganda's first major oil refinery, it positions the project to process crude from Tilenga and Kingfisher fields, producing LPG, gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and fuel oil for domestic and regional markets, while supporting broader industrial development in the Albertine Graben region.
