ISS ESG Corporate Rating

About ISS ESG Corporate Rating

ISS ESG Corporate Rating is the corporate sustainability assessment offered by ISS ESG, the responsible investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services. It evaluates companies’ environmental, social, and governance performance using industry-specific criteria and controversy analysis. Results are expressed on a D- to A+ scale, with a “Prime” threshold indicating leaders within each sector.

For chemical and materials companies, the methodology typically assesses climate strategy and greenhouse-gas management (including Scope 1–3), energy and resource efficiency, water stewardship and waste management, product stewardship and hazardous substances, process and occupational safety, supply-chain standards, business ethics, and board governance. The ratings are used by investors and index providers to compare issuers within peer groups, integrate ESG risks and opportunities into investment decisions, and support engagement and benchmarking across global markets.
