ISS ESG Corporate Rating

About ISS ESG Corporate Rating

ISS ESG Corporate Rating is an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) assessment service provided by ISS ESG, the responsible investment arm of Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS). It evaluates the sustainability performance and risk management of companies worldwide across sectors, including chemicals.

The methodology applies sector-specific, materiality-based criteria covering topics such as climate strategy, resource use and emissions, product stewardship, labor and human rights, and corporate governance. Companies are rated on a letter-grade scale (from D- to A+), with “Prime” status awarded to those meeting industry-defined thresholds. The rating is used by institutional investors for portfolio screening, stewardship, and reporting, and by companies to benchmark ESG performance against peers and support disclosures. Coverage spans thousands of issuers globally, offering comparable ESG insights for stakeholders following the chemical value chain.
