Inpasa is a major Latin American biorefinery that processes corn and sorghum into biofuels and high-value co-products. Founded in 2006 in Paraguay as Industria Paraguaya de Alcoholes S.A., the company began Brazilian operations in 2018 with its first plant in Sinop, Mato Grosso, and has since expanded rapidly across multiple states.
The company produces corn ethanol, dried distillers grains with solubles (DDGS) for animal nutrition under brands like FortiPro, vegetable oils including technical corn oil (TCO), and renewable electricity from biomass. It employs a full-grain utilization model that extracts ethanol, protein feed, and oil from each ton of feedstock, supporting both energy and food sectors.
Inpasa operates as a privately held closed joint-stock company (Sociedade Anônima Fechada) under the founding Lopes family, with facilities in Brazil (Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Maranhão, Bahia, and others under construction) and Paraguay. It is the largest corn ethanol producer in Latin America and among the largest globally, with annual capacity exceeding 5 billion liters of ethanol and significant exports of DDGS and oils.
The firm supplies technical corn oil to Petrobras for renewable asphalt production and maintains international certifications such as ISCC CORSIA. It emphasizes sustainability, regional development, and low-carbon solutions while exporting products to markets in Europe, Asia, and beyond.
