Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is a major Indian downstream energy company engaged in refining, marketing, and distribution of petroleum products. Headquartered in Mumbai, it is a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), a Government of India enterprise. HPCL’s portfolio spans transportation fuels, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), lubricants, aviation fuels, and industrial products, supported by pipelines, terminals, and bulk storage infrastructure.
The company operates large refineries in Mumbai (Maharashtra) and Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) and maintains a nationwide retail and LPG distribution network. HPCL holds interests in joint ventures, including HPCL-Mittal Energy Limited (operator of the Bathinda refinery) and HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited, which is developing an integrated refinery-petrochemicals complex in Barmer. The company is expanding its presence in petrochemicals and specialty products, alongside initiatives in natural gas marketing and cleaner fuel blends.
