Hiringa Energy Limited is a privately held New Zealand company focused on developing green hydrogen production and infrastructure to support decarbonization in heavy transport and industry. Incorporated in 2017 and based in New Plymouth, Taranaki, it builds projects that generate renewable electricity and produce green hydrogen via electrolysis to replace fossil fuels in transport and as industrial feedstocks.

The company develops and operates hydrogen production, distribution, and high-capacity refuelling infrastructure along key freight routes in New Zealand and Australia. It has launched Australasia’s first green hydrogen refuelling network, with operational or planned stations in South Auckland (Wiri), Hamilton (Te Rapa), Palmerston North, and Tauranga (Tauriko), each featuring on-site electrolysers and storage for reliable 24/7 supply to heavy vehicles. Expansion plans target additional sites across both countries, including corridors in New South Wales, Australia.

Key projects include the Kapuni Green Hydrogen initiative in partnership with Ballance Agri-Nutrients, Todd, Parininihi ki Waitōtara, and government entities, integrating wind turbines with a 5 MW electrolyser to supply hydrogen for fertilizer production and the refuelling network. Hiringa also explores larger Power-to-X opportunities such as green methanol. It collaborates with fuel cell manufacturers and OEMs to enable hydrogen adoption and works with governments, communities, and indigenous partners.
