GRTgaz S.A. is France’s main natural gas transmission system operator. The company designs, operates, and maintains the country’s high‑pressure pipeline network, transporting gas from cross‑border interconnections and LNG terminals to regional distribution networks and directly connected industrial sites. As a regulated TSO, it provides open‑access capacity, network operation, metering, and system balancing services for gas shippers, and ensures interoperability with neighboring European gas systems.
GRTgaz is actively preparing the gas infrastructure for the energy transition, facilitating the injection and transport of renewable gases such as biomethane, and piloting the transport and blending of hydrogen with natural gas while planning dedicated hydrogen networks. Through technical standards, R&D, and demonstration projects, it supports industrial clusters in improving energy efficiency, reducing methane emissions, and enabling decarbonization pathways relevant to the chemical value chain, including power‑to‑gas and future CO₂ transport readiness.
