The company is set to begin operations in late October 2026 in a dedicated 44,000 m² industrial facility located in Debrecen's southern economic zone, next to CATL's primary battery cell and module production plant. Its core activities encompass assembly operations, repackaging of battery cells, modules, and packs, warehousing, logistics services, maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment and tooling, and the operation of a machining workshop.
These functions support the broader CATL Debrecen Battery Cell and Module Plant by enabling functional separation and optimization of internal processes within the group's Hungarian operations. The facility will utilize advanced industrial automation systems and is designed to comply with rigorous safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, without engaging in the electrochemical production of battery cells.
By the end of 2026, the company plans to employ more than 90 personnel, contributing to local employment in the electric vehicle battery supply chain. As part of CATL's strategy to expand its European manufacturing footprint—following its first facility in Germany—GreenPower Energy Debrecen Kft. plays a supporting role in serving European automakers with locally produced high-performance lithium-ion batteries.
