Greenlight Electricity Centre Limited Partnership is a Canadian limited partnership formed as the owner and developer of the Greenlight Electricity Centre, a 932 MW combined-cycle natural gas-fired power generation project in Sturgeon County, Alberta, within the province’s Industrial Heartland.
The facility is designed with carbon capture readiness and permitted for phased modular expansion to a total capacity of 1,864 MW. It will supply dedicated behind-the-fence power to a co-located hyperscale data center campus under a long-term Electrical Energy Supply Agreement structured as a tolling arrangement. The plant is expected to require approximately 150 MMcf/d of natural gas, with transportation secured through existing pipeline systems, and targets commercial operations in the second half of 2030 at a total project cost of approximately $4.6 billion.
Ownership consists of Pembina Pipeline Corporation (47.5%), Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (47.5%), and Kineticor Asset Management (5%). Pembina acts as construction and operations manager, leveraging its infrastructure expertise, while Kineticor, the original developer, provides ongoing support. The partnership is distinct from the data center it serves and focuses on delivering reliable, dispatchable baseload power to meet growing electricity demand in Alberta’s energy and technology sectors.
