Futerro

About Futerro

Futerro is a European biopolymer company specializing in polylactic acid (PLA), a bio-based and recyclable thermoplastic produced from renewable sugars. The company develops proprietary technology spanning the full value chain: fermentation to lactic acid, conversion to lactide, PLA polymerization, and advanced recycling processes that depolymerize PLA back to its monomers for circular reuse.

Beyond technology development and licensing, Futerro supports engineering and industrial project deployment, as well as PLA resin production for applications such as rigid and flexible packaging, fibers and nonwovens, films, and 3D printing. Its solutions are aimed at reducing dependence on fossil-based plastics and lowering greenhouse-gas emissions when combined with appropriate end-of-life management and recycling systems.
