Fluxys Hydrogen

About Fluxys Hydrogen

Fluxys Hydrogen is a Belgian company established in 2023 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluxys Belgium. It serves as Belgium's designated hydrogen network operator, appointed by the government in April 2024.

The company plans, develops, and operates an open-access hydrogen transmission network to support the country's decarbonization efforts and federal hydrogen strategy. Leveraging Fluxys Belgium's expertise in gas infrastructure, Fluxys Hydrogen aims to deliver 30 TWh of annual hydrogen transmission capacity by 2030, forming part of the European Hydrogen Backbone.

Key projects include repurposing existing pipelines and building new ones to connect industrial clusters, production hubs, import terminals, and storage sites. It collaborates internationally, such as with Gasunie's Hynetwork on a cross-border link between the Netherlands and Belgium, targeting completion around 2030 and linking ports like Antwerp, Ghent, North Sea Port, and Rotterdam.
