Evonik Greater China is the regional subsidiary of Evonik Industries AG, a German specialty chemicals company headquartered in Essen. It operates approximately 15 locations across China, including 16 production sites and offices, with around 2,700 employees. The largest facility is in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park, supporting manufacturing of products such as isophorone, specialty organics, and silicone surfactants.
Evonik Greater China focuses on specialty chemicals for industries including automotive, construction, electronics, and emerging applications like green hydrogen. In 2025, it opened an Anion Exchange Membrane application technology center in Shanghai to develop and test DURAION membranes for electrolysis systems.
The parent company, Evonik Industries AG, is majority-owned by the RAG Foundation and reported group sales of €14.1 billion in 2025.
