About ENERGOCHEMICA SE group

ENERGOCHEMICA SE group is a Slovakia-based chemical holding active in basic chemicals and advanced process industries, with projects concentrated in Strážske, eastern Slovakia.

The group has pursued modernization of chlor-alkali production—chlorine and sodium hydroxide—through membrane electrolysis to meet EU Industrial Emissions Directive requirements, replacing legacy mercury-based technology. Feedstock sourcing is linked to planned salt mining near Zbudza. ENERGOCHEMICA has also been involved in developing a second-generation (cellulosic) ethanol facility in Strážske with technology partners including Biochemtex and Beta Renewables, applying PROESA technology alongside enzyme and yeast inputs. The ethanol plant design provides on-site energy self-sufficiency via combustion of lignin by-product to generate steam and power, with potential export of surplus electricity to the grid.
