Enagás Emprende, S.L.U. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Enagás, S.A., Spain's leading natural gas transmission system operator (TSO) and a key player in the European energy infrastructure sector. Founded in 2016 as the group's corporate venture capital and open innovation arm, it focuses on investing in, collaborating with, and accelerating innovative projects and startups to support the energy transition.
The company's primary activities center on renewable gases, including hydrogen and biomethane logistics and value chains; sustainable mobility applications for heavy transport; energy efficiency solutions for industrial infrastructure; CO2 capture, conversion, and utilization into renewable gases; and digitalization technologies. It provides tailored support through equity investments (smart money), participatory or convertible loans, access to public funding, technological validation on Enagás facilities, industry networking, and mentoring programs. It also operates the Energy Venture Center workspace in Madrid to foster the cleantech ecosystem.
Enagás Emprende has participated in or invested in dozens of projects and companies, contributing to job creation and significant CO2 emission reductions. As part of the Enagás Group, which is developing hydrogen backbone infrastructure, it helps diversify the parent company's business model toward sustainable energy sources while positioning the group as an enabler of innovation in Spain's and Europe's decarbonization efforts.
