About Electrochaea

Electrochaea is a clean energy technology company specializing in biological methanation (“power-to-gas”). Its process uses a proprietary archaea-based biocatalyst to convert renewable hydrogen and captured carbon dioxide into pipeline‑quality synthetic methane. The resulting renewable gas can be stored, transported, and utilized through existing natural gas infrastructure for industrial heat, power generation, chemicals, and mobility.

The company develops and licenses bioreactor and process technology and works with utilities, gas grid operators, biogas producers, and project developers to integrate methanation with electrolysis and CO2 sources such as biogas upgrading, industrial off‑gas, or direct air capture. Electrochaea operates pilot and demonstration facilities and advances commercial projects in Europe and North America. Its solutions support grid balancing and sector coupling, carbon utilization, and the decarbonization of gaseous fuels and feedstocks relevant to the chemical industry.
