Electricity North West Limited is a UK electricity distribution network operator. It owns, operates and maintains the regional power distribution network in North West England, including Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cumbria. The company manages substations, overhead lines and underground cables that deliver electricity from the national transmission grid to homes, businesses and critical infrastructure across the region. It is regulated by Ofgem under the RIIO price-control framework.
Electricity North West connects new demand and generation to the grid, supports distributed energy resources and renewable integration, and undertakes network reinforcement and resilience programs to improve reliability and accommodate electrification (such as heat pumps and electric vehicle charging). Its activities are relevant to energy‑intensive industries—including chemicals—by providing the capacity, quality of supply and connection services needed for existing operations and new low‑carbon projects.
