Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company

About EGAS

Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) is Egypt’s state-owned holding company for the natural gas sector, operating under the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. Established in 2001, it oversees policy, planning, and state participation across the gas value chain.

EGAS manages upstream licensing and partnerships for gas exploration and development—primarily in the Mediterranean and Nile Delta—and conducts bid rounds with international operators. It supervises midstream activities through affiliated companies, including national gas transmission, processing, and distribution, and coordinates domestic gas allocation to power generation, industrial users, and the petrochemical sector.

The company also represents the state in Egypt’s LNG value chain, holding stakes in export projects and arranging LNG supply when needed to balance the market. Through its regulatory and commercial roles, EGAS supports the development of gas infrastructure and ensures reliable feedstock for Egypt’s energy and chemical industries.
