CPI (Centre for Process Innovation Limited) is a UK technology innovation centre that supports the development, proof-of-concept, and scale-up of processes and products across chemicals, materials, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. Part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, CPI operates open-access facilities and technical teams that bridge the gap between laboratory research and industrial manufacture.
For the chemical value chain, CPI provides process development, formulation, analytical science, bioprocessing, and scale-up to pilot and demonstration levels, alongside GMP and non-GMP capabilities, digital process modelling, and regulatory and supply chain support. It works with startups, SMEs, academia, and global manufacturers to de-risk technology and enable more sustainable production, including bio-based and circular approaches. CPI has sites across the UK, notably in the North East of England and Scotland.
