Founded in 1966 and rebranded from Cogas Infra en Beheer in 2017 to comply with regulatory requirements separating network operations from commercial activities, Coteq operates as the independent grid operator within the Cogas group. This group also encompasses entities involved in fiber optic networks and sustainable energy solutions, with municipal shareholders holding stakes in the parent company.

Coteq's core activities include the construction, maintenance, and expansion of energy infrastructure, connection management, metering, and fault resolution. It actively supports the energy transition by enabling the injection of biomethane, also known as green gas, into its gas network and preparing the infrastructure for future integration of hydrogen. The company collaborates with national operators like Gasunie on projects to enhance biomethane transport capabilities.

As a member of Netbeheer Nederland, Coteq positions itself among the leading regional grid operators in the country, focusing on efficiency, reliability, and facilitating the shift towards renewable energy sources while maintaining high standards of service in its operational area.
