CO280 Solutions Inc. is a Vancouver-based developer of large-scale carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects, specializing in bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) at pulp and paper mills across North America.

The company partners with pulp and paper producers to retrofit existing mill infrastructure with modular carbon capture units, primarily using commercially proven liquid amine technology. This enables the capture and permanent geological storage of biogenic CO₂ emissions from recovery boilers and other sources. By leveraging established biomass supply chains and operational expertise, CO280 reduces project complexity, timelines, and costs while generating new revenue streams for mill operators through the sale of high-integrity CDR credits on the voluntary carbon market.

CO280 develops, finances, owns, and operates projects via joint ventures with mill partners and collaborates with technology suppliers such as SLB Capturi. It has contracted over 4.3 million tonnes of permanent CDR to date with major buyers including Microsoft and JPMorgan Chase. The firm is advancing more than 10 projects in the U.S. Gulf Coast and Canada, with four reaching pre-FEED or FEED stages and final investment decisions anticipated from 2026 to 2028. Several projects are slated to deliver CDR by 2030.

Founded in 2021, CO280 has raised substantial funding from investors including NGP and employs 21-50 people. It was recognized on Cleantech Group’s 2026 Global Cleantech 100 list for its scalable approach to affordable, permanent CDR while supporting the revitalization of the North American forest products industry and rural employment.
