About Chemtura

Chemtura Corporation was a US-based specialty chemicals company formed in 2005 from the merger of Crompton Corporation and Great Lakes Chemical. It developed, manufactured, and marketed specialty additives and materials that improve the performance of polymers and industrial fluids, operating a global network of production and R&D sites.

Its portfolio covered lubricant additives and synthetic lubricants for industrial uses; brominated and other flame-retardant additives for plastics and building materials; urethane prepolymers and systems for specialized elastomers, coatings, and adhesives; and organometallics such as aluminum alkyls used as catalysts in polymer production and fine chemicals. Chemtura served customers across the plastics, automotive, electronics, energy, and broader industrial sectors. In 2017, the company was acquired by LANXESS and integrated into its additives business.
