Société Nationale d’Électricité du Congo (SNE), also referred to as Centrale Électrique du Congo (CEC), is the national electricity utility of the Republic of the Congo. The company is responsible for power generation, transmission, and distribution across the country, supplying residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Its generation portfolio includes thermal (notably gas-fired) and hydropower assets, and it manages the national grid and related infrastructure.
For the energy and process industries, SNE/CEC provides grid power to oil, gas, refining, and associated chemical operations, particularly in key industrial zones such as Pointe-Noire. The utility undertakes projects to expand capacity, improve network reliability, and modernize infrastructure, supporting industrial development and electrification. Activities typically include maintenance and upgrades of power plants and substations, grid reinforcement, and partnerships with public and private stakeholders to meet growing electricity demand.
