The European Association of Chicory Inulin Producers (CEFI), also known as the Comité Européen des Fabricants d’Inuline, is a European trade association representing manufacturers of chicory-derived inulin and oligofructose. These carbohydrate ingredients, often used as dietary fibers and prebiotics, are produced from chicory root for applications across the food, beverage, and nutrition sectors.
CEFI provides a common platform for scientific, technical, and regulatory matters affecting the chicory inulin industry. Its work includes engagement with European and international authorities on issues such as food safety, labeling, nutrition and health claims, and standards. The association also supports initiatives related to product quality, manufacturing best practices, and the environmental sustainability of chicory cultivation and processing, facilitating dialogue between industry, researchers, and policymakers.
