Aurubis Italia S.r.l. is a subsidiary of Aurubis AG, a leading global non-ferrous metals producer and copper recycler headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. The company operates its sole Italian production site in Avellino, where it manufactures copper wire rod for wire and cable applications in sectors including wind turbines, electric vehicles, electronics, and electricity transmission. The facility employs around 90 people and produced approximately 155,000 tonnes of rod in 2025. In September 2025, Aurubis completed a €5 million upgrade to the site's shaft furnace, boosting capacity by about 20% and improving energy efficiency. The Avellino plant, the only copper rod producer in southern Italy, achieved The Copper Mark certification in 2025, becoming the first such site in the country.
