Atyrau Refinery (Atyrau Oil Refinery LLP) is a major oil processing complex located in the city of Atyrau in western Kazakhstan. Commissioned in 1945 and modernized in the 2010s, it is one of the country’s three key refineries, serving Kazakhstan’s domestic fuels market and export channels.
The refinery processes crude from regional fields and has a nameplate capacity of roughly 5–6 million tonnes per year. Its product slate includes gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, LPG, vacuum gasoil, fuel oil, and sulfur. An aromatics production complex supplies petrochemical feedstocks such as benzene and paraxylene, while deep-conversion units increase light-product yield and enable production of fuels meeting Euro-4/Euro-5 specifications.
Atyrau Oil Refinery LLP is part of the KazMunayGas group. The site plays a strategic role in Kazakhstan’s refining and petrochemical value chain by providing transportation fuels and aromatics feedstocks to support downstream chemical development.
