Alabama Graphite Products, LLC

The company operates the Kellyton Graphite Processing Plant located in Kellyton, Alabama, at the Lake Martin Regional Industrial Park in Coosa County. This facility converts natural flake graphite concentrate into coated spherical purified graphite (CSPG), marketed under names such as ULTRA-CSPG, which functions as the active anode material in lithium-ion batteries. The multi-step process encompasses milling and shaping through micronization and spheroidization, proprietary purification involving caustic baking, acid leaching, and thermal treatment without hydrofluoric acid for reduced environmental impact, followed by coating. A spherical graphite fines byproduct is also produced.

Phase 1 targets an annual CSPG production capacity of around 12,500 metric tons, with Phase 2 expansion planned to reach higher totals. Long-term feedstock is intended from Westwater’s Coosa Graphite Deposit approximately 30 miles away, while interim supplies come from third-party sources. The plant is expected to generate about 100 permanent jobs.

Alabama Graphite Products, LLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Westwater Resources, Inc. (NYSE American: WWR) and holds responsibility for leases, permits, and day-to-day operations as part of the parent company’s vertically integrated mine-to-market strategy. It plays a pioneering role in developing the first large-scale domestic natural graphite processing capacity in the United States, supporting secure supply chains for the electric vehicle, electronics, and energy storage sectors while reducing reliance on foreign imports.
