The most recent of Pemex's three large petrochemical complexes around Coatzacoalcos, near Allende east of the city, whose first units, for ethylene oxide and glycols, started in 1988. It has an ethane cracker, high-density and linear low-density polyethylene lines, ethylene oxide and glycols, and an acrylonitrile plant rebuilt with Unigel in 2009. Short of ethane, the cracker has stood idle since 2023, leaving ethylene oxide as the complex's main product.
