Pemex's petrochemical complex at La Cangrejera, south-east of Coatzacoalcos in southern Veracruz, built in the early 1980s. An ethane cracker rated at 600,000 tonnes of ethylene a year feeds its low-density polyethylene and ethylene oxide units, and an aromatics train and a styrene plant complete the site. Much of it has run far below capacity for years, and Pemex plans to bring the ethylene chain back under its 2026-2030 programme.
