- Ammonia capacity utilization in Europe reduced to 35%.
- Annual capacity cut: 3.1M tonnes ammonia, 4M tonnes finished products.
- Finished products include 1.8M tonnes urea, 1.9M tonnes nitrates, 0.3M tonnes NPK.
- Global sourcing to optimize operations and meet demand.
Production Curtailments
Due to record high gas prices in Europe, Yara is reducing its European ammonia production capacity to around 35%. This adjustment will result in an annual capacity reduction of 3.1 million tonnes of ammonia and 4.0 million tonnes of finished products, including 1.8 million tonnes of urea, 1.9 million tonnes of nitrates, and 0.3 million tonnes of NPK.
Global Sourcing Strategy
To mitigate the impact of these curtailments, Yara will leverage its global sourcing and production system. This strategy includes continuing nitrate production using imported ammonia when feasible, ensuring that customer demand is met despite the reduced local production.
Ongoing Monitoring
Yara will continue to closely monitor the situation and adapt its operations in response to market conditions. This approach aims to maintain operational efficiency and meet market needs in a challenging economic environment.
