X-ELIO Launches Solar and Storage Plant to Power BASF Freeport

Project Overview

The Liberty Energy Project, located in Dayton, Texas, has commenced operations, featuring 72 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity and 60 MW of battery storage. This marks X-ELIO's first combined solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the United States.

Renewable Energy Supply

With the Liberty Project now operational, BASF's Freeport site will be fully powered by renewable energy. BASF will source 48 MW of electricity from this project as part of a 12-year Power Purchase Agreement, supporting its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Strategic Expansion

X-ELIO is focusing on expanding its presence in the U.S. market, with plans to develop a pipeline of 2.8 GW of solar PV and 2.1 GW of storage projects. This initiative aims to provide competitive energy solutions and support local communities.

Community Engagement

Under its Community & Nature Plan Program, X-ELIO has engaged in several initiatives to benefit local communities. These include creating a shared green space, improving accessibility at a nature preserve, restoring a drainage system at a food bank, and launching a volunteer recruitment campaign for Meals on Wheels.
