WHILL chooses Teijin Sereebo P CFP for Model C Lite
- WHILL selected Teijin’s Sereebo P CFP CFRTP for key structural components of the upcoming Model C Lite.
- Sereebo P CFP is an injection-moldable pellet containing post-industrial recycled (PIR) carbon fiber uniformly dispersed in a polyamide resin.
- The material enables thin, complex shapes (foot support, back support, armrests, battery case) and offers higher strength and lower weight.
- Injection-molded Sereebo P CFP reduces weight, manufacturing costs and complexity versus aluminum and magnesium and is compatible with standard molding machines.
Selection and application
WHILL has selected Teijin’s Sereebo P CFP series, a carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP), for key structural components of the upcoming WHILL Model C Lite. The material will be used for the foot support, back support, armrests and battery case of the battery-powered, single-seat, last-mile device, which combines maneuverability with light weight and one-handed folding.
Material characteristics
Sereebo P CFP offers high flow during injection molding, enabling thin and complex shapes while providing high strength and low weight. It is supplied as a pellet that can be processed on standard injection-molding machines and is made from post-industrial recycled (PIR) carbon fiber uniformly dispersed in a polyamide resin.
Production and market implications
Compared with traditional aluminum and magnesium, injection-molded Sereebo P CFP reduces weight, manufacturing costs and complexity. Teijin intends to continue supplying the Sereebo series to the mobility sector and pursue applications in other industries requiring light weight, strength and design flexibility, such as drones, robotics and electrical and electronic components.
