Investment and Job Creation

Wacker Chemie AG is investing in a new silicone production site in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, with an investment volume in the low triple-digit million euro range. The project will create up to 200 jobs by 2028, with production expected to start by the end of 2025.

Production Focus

The new site will initially focus on producing room-temperature-vulcanizing specialty silicones, with plans to later include high-temperature-vulcanizing silicone compounds. The facility aims to supply over 20,000 metric tons of custom-made silicones annually.

Integration with Existing Sites

The Karlovy Vary site will complement WACKER’s existing production sites in Germany (Burghausen and Nünchritz) and Pilsen, Czech Republic. Raw materials like polymers, fillers, and additives will be delivered from Burghausen and mixed in Karlovy Vary to manufacture ready-to-use silicones.

Construction and Development

WACKER is collaborating with US real estate developer Panattoni for the construction of the new site. Development work is set to begin shortly, with construction scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2024, pending approval by authorities. The Czech real estate group Accolade owns the 23,000-square-meter site and the eventual production building.
