Trinseo's U.S. Sites Achieve OCS Blue Verification

Key highlights
  • Trinseo's Midland and Louisville sites achieved OCS Blue Verification in 2023.
  • OCS Blue status requires compliance with five key environmental and operational standards.
  • Trinseo has participated in the OCS program since 2014, with all European sites certified by April 2025.

OCS Blue Verification Achievement

Trinseo's facilities in Midland, Michigan, and Louisville, Kentucky, have achieved Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS) Blue Verification. This marks a significant milestone as they are the first Trinseo sites in the U.S. to earn this distinction since the program's introduction in 2023.

Environmental Standards and Practices

OCS Blue Verified status indicates that a facility has implemented effective controls and best practices to prevent plastic pellet, flake, and powder loss into the environment. Achieving this status requires meeting rigorous environmental and operational standards, verified through an independent third-party inspection.

Key Compliance Pillars

Facilities must comply with five key pillars: leadership commitment, facility risk assessment, internal procedures, employee training and engagement, and audits and partner engagement. These pillars ensure comprehensive measures are in place to prevent resin loss.

Continuous Improvement Efforts

The teams at Midland and Louisville have worked diligently over several years to enhance housekeeping, pellet collection practices, and containment systems. These efforts are part of Trinseo's long-standing participation in the OCS program, which began in 2014.

Global Commitment

While OCS Blue is a U.S.-based program, Trinseo has been actively engaged with OCS worldwide. By April 2025, all of Trinseo's European manufacturing sites will have achieved external OCS Certification, demonstrating the company's global commitment to preventing resin pellet loss.
