Expansion of Production Capacity
Trinseo has announced the expansion of its production capacity for ALTUGLAS™ acrylic resins at its Rho, Italy plant. The new compounding line is set to become operational in the third quarter of 2022, addressing increased market demand.
Enhanced Capabilities
The new line will support Trinseo’s mold-in color, paint replacement solution, which is particularly beneficial for automotive customers. This solution offers performance benefits such as durability, scratch resistance, and color retention, while also eliminating volatile organic compounds (VOCs) associated with traditional paint processes.
Increased Flexibility and Sustainability
The new compounding line will enable Trinseo to respond more agilely to changing market conditions with a flexible production unit. The company aims to nearly double its production capacity over the next three years, while also improving product performance with low dust content. Additionally, the new line will contribute to Trinseo’s 2030 Sustainability Goals by reducing water and electricity consumption.
Global Production Footprint
Besides the Rho plant, Trinseo produces PMMA and MMA in Porto Marghera, Italy. Other European PMMA production sites include Saint-Avold, France, and Bronderslev, Denmark. In North America, Trinseo operates four PMMA manufacturing assets in the United States and one in Mexico.
