Toyo Engineering launches g‑Steam electric boiler
- g‑Steam is a tube‑type industrial electric boiler with 2–25 t/h evaporation capacity per unit.
- The technology is derived from auxiliary boilers used in nuclear power plants, with the first unit introduced in 1989.
- When powered by renewable electricity, the boiler supplies steam without flue gas emissions from the boiler itself.
- Design highlights include Joule heating, wide load‑control range with rapid response, simplified auxiliary equipment and push‑button operation to cut maintenance.
Product and purpose
Toyo Engineering has launched g‑Steam™, an industrial electric boiler that generates steam by Joule heating applied directly to steam‑generating tubes. The product aims to reduce the carbon intensity of steam supply at manufacturing sites when run on renewable electricity.
Technology heritage
The tube‑type electric boiler technology behind g‑Steam™ was developed through TOYO’s auxiliary boiler work for nuclear power plants and has been used since 1989 in Japanese electric‑utility boiler systems, providing long‑term, high‑reliability operation.
Key features
Each unit provides an equivalent evaporation capacity of 2 to 25 t/h. g‑Steam™ produces steam without burning fuel and so has no flue gas emissions from the boiler itself; it offers a wide load‑control range and rapid response to steam demand and variable renewable power, and its simplified design reduces auxiliary equipment, maintenance and operator workload.
Markets and next steps
TOYO intends to offer g‑Steam™ to manufacturers that use steam, such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food & beverage, and will continue assessing applications and expanding deployment.
