TITAN and thyssenkrupp Polysius Partner on Low-Carbon Cement with meca® Clay Technology

Key highlights
  • TITAN will implement meca\u00ae clay technology at its Patras plant in Greece.
  • Pilot activities are planned for 2026 with further expansion to follow.
  • The goal is a clinker-to-cement ratio below 40\% compared to 93\% in Original Portland Cement.
  • The collaboration supports TITAN's aim for net-zero concrete by 2050.

Partnership Overview

TITAN Group and thyssenkrupp Polysius have formed a strategic partnership to advance low-carbon cement production using meca® clay technology. This collaboration is formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Technology Implementation

The meca® clay technology activates alternative cementitious materials to partially replace clinker, the main source of CO₂ emissions in cement manufacturing. TITAN plans to implement this technology at its Patras cement plant in Greece, aiming for a clinker-to-cement ratio below 40%.

Timeline and Expansion

Pilot activities at the Patras plant are scheduled for 2026, with further expansion planned. This initiative is part of TITAN's strategy to establish the TITAN Centre for Advanced Technologies in Patras.

Decarbonization Goals

The partnership aims to accelerate the development of high-performance, low-clinker materials for European and US markets, supporting TITAN's ambition to achieve net-zero concrete by 2050.
