Tecnimont (MAIRE) was awarded a USD 50 million rehabilitation study contract for the Guaracara Refinery Complex in Point a Pierre, Trinidad and Tobago, covering the refinery’s ~150,000 barrels per day capacity.
Scope of work
The contract covers a comprehensive technical and integrity assessment of units and equipment and the development of a Phase 1–2 rehabilitation study to identify upgrading or refurbishment needs and to evaluate the adequacy of existing technologies against long‑term operational and performance objectives; it also includes evaluation of energy efficiency and environmental performance and engineering of advanced water intake and cooling systems designed to stringent international standards.
Deliverables
Tecnimont Services will deliver the rehabilitation study together with preliminary CAPEX and OPEX estimates to support the refurbishment and restart of the refinery.
Schedule and next steps
Phases 1 and 2 are expected to be completed by early 2027, after which the scope is expected to extend to FEED and subsequent EPC up to Operations & Maintenance activities for the full rehabilitation of the complex.
