Drummed chlorine is used across a range of industries. Australia’s supply of drummed chlorine is currently heavily reliant on a single production source in Victoria; the Lytton facility will provide an additional domestic supply option for a national market that includes regional communities in Queensland, the Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia, improving resilience and supply security.
Site changes and logistics
The project will see the Lytton site transition to a Major Hazard Facility (MHF). Liquefied chlorine for drumming will be supplied using some of Lytton’s excess chlorine capacity and will also supplement Coogee’s current import supply chain of chlorine drums into Western Australia and Far‑North Queensland.
