Capacity Expansion
Solvay is set to increase the production capacity of its Tecnoflon® FKM peroxide curable fluoroelastomer by nearly 30% at its Spinetta Marengo plant in Italy. This expansion aims to meet the growing demand for high-performance sealing applications in various industries.
Timeline and Locations
The additional capacity is expected to be operational by May 2021. This follows recent capacity increases at the same site and at Solvay's Tecnoflon® FKM plant in Changshu, China. Solvay also produces Tecnoflon® FKM in the United States.
Applications
Tecnoflon® FKM is utilized in low emission internal combustion engines, hybrid and electric vehicles, and applications such as exhaust gas recirculation, turbocharger hoses, seals, and gaskets. It is known for its resistance to high temperatures and chemical fluids. Additionally, it is used in the semiconductor industry and wearable electronics to ensure a high purity environment.
