Project Overview
Solvay and Sapio are collaborating on the Hydrogen Valley Rosignano Project, a large-scale green hydrogen production plant in Rosignano, Italy. This initiative aims to decarbonize Solvay’s activities, reducing CO2 emissions for Peroxides operations by 15%.
Timeline and Capacity
The green hydrogen plant is scheduled for completion by mid-2026. It will be built on a former industrial area within Solvay’s Rosignano facility and will have an annual production capacity of 756 tons of green hydrogen.
Energy Source
The plant will be powered by green electricity, generated through a dedicated 9.5 MW photovoltaic installation. This renewable energy source will support the production of peroxides on site.
Funding
Solvay has secured €16 million in funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) provided by the Tuscan Region for the construction of the hydrogen production plant.
