Decarbonization Goals
Siemens and Airbus are collaborating to decarbonize four major industrial locations in the U.S. and the UK. The initiative aims to reduce energy consumption by 20% and CO₂ emissions by 85% by 2030, contributing to Airbus's target of abating 80 Kt CO2e annually from 2030.
Technological Approach
Digital twins of the energy system will be employed to simulate energy consumption, helping to identify optimal measures for reducing energy demand and emissions. Solutions include on-site renewable energy, heat pumps, energy efficiency improvements, and smart energy management systems.
Project Timeline
The first phase began in summer 2025 with the development of decarbonization plans. Infrastructure expansion is scheduled to start in 2026, with Siemens responsible for operating and maintaining the new systems to ensure long-term efficiency.
Collaboration and Support
Capgemini supports Siemens with consulting, project management, and planning. This partnership builds on over 50 years of successful collaboration between Siemens and Airbus in areas like factory automation and industrial software.
