Investment and Objectives
Siemens is investing approximately €200 million to construct an intelligent factory in Amberg, Germany, by 2030. This initiative aims to address the increasing demand for high-tech electronic products and enhance the flexibility of manufacturing operations.
Technological Advancements
The new factory will incorporate self-learning, autonomous, and highly flexible manufacturing processes, partially controlled by artificial intelligence. Siemens plans to use digital twin technology to simulate the entire factory, including production, machines, and logistics, during the planning phase.
Employee Training and Job Security
Siemens is committed to involving its 2,400 Smart Infrastructure employees in the digital transformation process. The company will provide extensive training to prepare them for new roles in the digital factory, ensuring job security at the site.
Automation and Sustainability
The factory will feature fully automated logistics, including driverless transport systems and humanoid robotics. A cleanroom for electronics production will also be part of the facility. Siemens aims to modernize and decarbonize the location, contributing to sustainable operations.
