Siemens expands Industrial Edge for enhanced data and AI integration

Key highlights
  • Industrial AI Suite and WinCC Unified are now generally available.
  • IEC 62443-4-2 security functions including air-gapped operation are targeted for release in H2 2026.
  • Industrial Information Hub now supports bidirectional data synchronization and ARM-based devices, with LTE planned in a future release.
  • Partners 36Zero Vision, MVTec, Basler and OnLogic provide machine-vision, quality-inspection solutions and rugged industrial PCs.

AI and SCADA availability

Industrial AI Suite (based on Industrial Edge) and WinCC Unified are now generally available; the AI Suite supports full AI lifecycle management, distributed model scaling and retraining by combining image data with MES/controller data; WinCC Open Architecture is available as an Edge App and for the virtual PLC (SIMATIC S7-1500v).

Security and platform management

Industrial Edge Management 2.0 provides a redesigned UI, improved data management and support for hypervisors such as OpenShift and Hyper-V; IEC 62443-4-2 security functions, including air-gapped operation, are targeted for H2 2026; UL Solutions has awarded Industrial Edge and the virtual PLC a "Smart Systems Verified – Platinum" certification covering connectivity, control, digital experience, functional value, resilience and cybersecurity.

Data flow and ARM support

The Industrial Information Hub adds bidirectional synchronization of data models between edge devices and central IT and now runs on ARM devices like the SIMATIC IOT2050 (battery operation supported), with LTE-based wireless networking planned in a future release, enabling decentralized SCADA and edge use cases in logistics, water/waste management and renewable energy.

Partner solutions

Partners 36Zero Vision, MVTec and Basler supply machine-vision and quality-inspection solutions; OnLogic brings rugged industrial PCs compatible with Industrial Edge for demanding and remote environments.
