SANPLATEC selects Mitsubishi Chemical ZELAS TPS for iP-TEC cell culture tubing

Key highlights
  • Mitsubishi Chemical's ZELAS™ TPS thermoplastic styrenic elastomer was selected for SANPLATEC's iP-TEC cell culture tubing.
  • ZELAS™ TPS demonstrates superior iPS cell proliferation versus PVC and is compatible with autoclave and 25 kGy gamma sterilization.
  • The material is heat-sealable and suitable for closed-loop cell culture systems in regenerative medicine.

Adoption

Mitsubishi Chemical’s medical‑grade thermoplastic styrenic elastomer ZELAS™ TPS has been adopted for the cell culture tubes of SANPLATEC’s iP‑TEC® series; the products were exhibited at SANPLATEC’s booth at the 25th Congress of the Japanese Society for Regenerative Medicine on March 19–20, 2026.

Material performance

ZELAS™ TPS exhibits rubber elasticity and a track record in medical tubing and pharmaceutical packaging; tests showed superior iPS cell proliferation versus PVC and confirmed compatibility with autoclave and 25 kGy gamma sterilization.

System suitability

The material is heat‑sealable and supports closed‑loop cell culture systems that allow medium exchange via tubing without opening a sealed container, addressing handling and transport requirements in regenerative medicine workflows.

Commercial use

ZELAS™ TPS will be used to produce thermoplastic elastomer tubing for cell culture and marketed under the iP‑TEC® brand.
