Sustainability and materials
The contract advances access to lower‑carbon, increasingly circular copper: Aurubis reports its copper wire rod currently contains approximately 36% recycled material and has a carbon footprint significantly below the global industry average. All Aurubis rod mills have the Copper Mark assurance; Prysmian is also a member.
European supply security
The agreement aims to strengthen Europe’s production footprint, recycling capabilities and low‑carbon rod and cable output to meet rising copper demand driven by power grids, renewable energy, electrification and AI infrastructure.
Partnership impact
Prysmian says the deal provides reliable, flexible and increasingly sustainable supply for its customers, while Aurubis highlights the contract as the largest signed with Prysmian and a demonstration of resilient European value chains supported by its four rod plants.
