President Aliyev Breaks Ground for Two Plants in Sumgayit

President Ilham Aliyev attended the groundbreaking ceremony for two new plants at the Sumgayit Chemical Industry Park in Azerbaijan. The event marked the beginning of construction for the Azersulfat LLC sulfuric acid production plant and the Glassica CJSC glass container production plant. Additionally, the President inaugurated the Azerfloat CJSC thermoforming sheet glass plant.

Investment and Production

The sulfuric acid plant, with an investment cost of $6 million, is expected to produce 20,000 tons of acid annually. The plant is scheduled to start operations by the end of this year and will create over 30 jobs. This initiative aims to replace the 5,000-10,000 tons of sulfuric acid that Azerbaijan has been importing annually over the past three years, with plans to export to Georgia and Russia in the future.

Economic Diversification

President Aliyev's policy focuses on economic diversification through industrialization and the development of the non-oil sector. Systematic measures are being taken to utilize natural and economic resources more effectively and to implement advanced technologies. Hundreds of modern industrial enterprises and new production facilities are being established across Azerbaijan.

The introduction of innovative models such as industrial parks and agricultural estates is crucial for expanding the production of export-oriented goods. These initiatives aim to reduce dependence on oil and gas, develop competitive industries based on innovative technologies, and increase employment opportunities.
