Perpetual Next appoints Kreston ME Consulting for UAE biomethanol feasibility study
- Kreston ME Consulting commissioned to deliver a comprehensive feasibility study for a biomethanol facility and regional commercial platform in the UAE.
- Reference concept targets ~220,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of biomethanol using ~320,000 tpa of imported biocarbon from sustainable residues.
- Abu Dhabi is the preferred location for assessment due to infrastructure, port connectivity and energy/chemical value chains; final site depends on study findings.
- Study scope includes demand and offtake analysis, regulatory/permitting review, site and port logistics, feedstock import logistics, capex/opex estimates, financing structures, risk assessment and will finish in Q4 2026.
Assignment
Perpetual Next has appointed Kreston ME Consulting to undertake a comprehensive feasibility study into developing a biomethanol production facility and regional commercial platform in the United Arab Emirates as part of its evaluation of an integrated renewable carbon-to-biomethanol platform.
Reference concept
The reference concept under evaluation targets approximately 220,000 tonnes per annum of biomethanol produced using around 320,000 tonnes per annum of imported biocarbon sourced from sustainable residues, with Abu Dhabi identified as the preferred location for assessment.
Study scope
The study will assess regional and international biomethanol demand and offtake routes; the UAE regulatory, permitting and jurisdictional framework; industrial sites, utilities, infrastructure and port logistics; international biocarbon feedstock supply and import logistics; indicative capital and operating economics; potential project financing and investment structures; and key development risks and the pathway to investment readiness.
Outputs and timing
Kreston will combine local UAE market, regulatory and infrastructure expertise with Kreston Global capabilities and engage industrial zones and infrastructure providers to validate assumptions. The work will culminate in an integrated feasibility assessment with recommendations on next steps and is expected to be completed in Q4 2026.
